Hal Hop

My name is Jessie Darker, and I live in Penance, New York. Nice little slice of earth for the most part. Friendly people, Pretty scenery, small town charm… Yep. Penance is a great place to raise a family. That is, if you follow a few specific rules…

1.   Don’t joke with the werewolves. Laugh all you want, but it’s true. They really don’t have a sense of humor. Like, at all. Mom once made a joke about scratching the pack leader’s sister’s belly for a favor. Her mate peed on our legs. He was still in human form… I’m scarred for life.

2.   Don’t date necromancers. I can’t speak from experience on this, but my best friend told me horror stories. Like, make-you-want-to-shower-with-your-clothes-on kind of creepy. You think you know a guy—until he asks you if his dead buddy can watch…

3.   Never leave home without the essentials. Nope. I’m not talking about this season’s hottest shade of lip gloss or a good moisturizer. I’m talking quartz powder and a lighter. Even if you’re not a Monster Masher like Mom and me, a little prep goes a long way. Trust me. When that demon dog is coming at you, acid drool trailing down its snout, you’ll thank me. So will your clothes. Demon drool stains something fierce…

4.   Don’t go swimming in Dobbs Park Lake. They closed the lake a few years ago, but some people still sneak in. Bad call. Just go with me on this one. There’s a Kelpie named Sid living at the bottom of the lake. He’s got a nasty attitude, not to mention the fact that he’s a big fat liar. He swears he’s related to King Triton…

5.   Don’t get on the bad side of the witches. Don’t get me wrong. One of my best friends is a witch. The majority though? They’re on the testy side. If you’re not careful, you could easily end up craving cheese and spending the day going nowhere on a hamster wheel. Or, if you’ve really pissed them off, you might wake up sporting an extra appendage. You probably don’t want boy bits where your girl bits should be…

Or maybe that’s just me…

Welcome to Penance. You don’t have to go home…but you might want to.

A Darker Past, book two in the Darker Agency series, is out soon. To celebrate, I’m giving away a copy of the first book, Darker Days. Check out the rafflecopter below and have a safe and happy Halloween!

The past is Darker than they thought…

Between helping her mother with the Darker Agency and laying the smack down on monster baddies, Jessie Darker puts the “normal” in paranormal. But lately, things have gotten a little crazy…even for a smart-assed half-demon teenage girl.

For starters, Jessie’s been contracted into fifty-five years of annoying servitude. To a demon. Then there’s Lukas Scott, her sexy new boyfriend. Once the former incarnation of Wrath, he’s been going through some…uh, changes. Like residual anger. And trading chaste hangouts for lusty make-out sessions.

But it’s when Lukas and Jessie accidentally release a Very Nasty Demon that things get really bad, setting into motion a chain of death and mayhem that threatens both Earth and the Shadow Realm. Jessie has exactly four days to fix it…before all of Hell breaks loose.

I did a gypsy about 4 years ago…kinda funny being a red haired gypsy, but no different than when I was in 3rd grade and I was a red haired indian princess, lol!

Indian Princess! You’re so lucky 🙂 My costumes as a kid were generally boring. I lost count of how many “cowgirl” years I had 😉

Well, we were having a costume thing at school for Thanksgiving, and I wanted to be different, didn’t want to be a pilgrim, so mom made it for me. She loved the Native peoples and their cultures, and it was the only costume she ever made for me. I wanted to wear it before Thanksgiving, so she let me wear it for Hallowe’en. I still have it put away.
