For all those who don’t know, I have no power and will probably be playing catch up for the rest of the week as I borrow internet from my mom. For anyone waiting to hear from me, thank you for your patience! I promise, I will get to you. 🙂
I wrote this several years ago and have posted it ever since. It’s a tradition and I refuse to let a silly little thing like no power stop m because it wouldn’t be October 31st without it!
Good luck and happy word counts to all the NaNoers out there! 😀
Twas the Night Before NaNo
Twas the night before NaNo, and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even the spouse
The pages were stacked by the laptop with care
With hopes that a contract would soon be there
The writers were snuggled, all warm in their beds
As visions of royalties danced through their heads
I with my coffee, and my crit partner with her mints
Had just settled in for the mother of all sprits
When inside my kitchen, there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter
Through the hall, tripping over the trash
I skidded to a stop and saw a bright flash
The clock on the wall gave quite a show
The Cuckoos dancing to let me know
The hour was close, she soon would be here
It was time for the NaNo fairy to appear

I died laughing at this. Good thing to know that NaNo causes this much weird anticipation in other people too. 🙂
I died laughing reading this. Good thing to know that I’m not the only one who sits on pins and needles waiting for NaNo. 🙂
Love it!
[…] Jus Accardo, author of Touch will be stopping by in a few days to give her opinion on NaNoWriMo. But until then, read her extremely funny post about “The Night Before NaNo.” […]
Fantastic!
This is a perfect description of the madness that is NaNoWriMo
